General Job Description:
Under the direction of the Center Manager, the Family Advocate will work to ensure that all aspects of the social service, health, parent involvements component meet or exceed the requirements set forth in the Head Start Performance Standards and the policies set forth by Tallatoona CAP, Inc.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

  1. Provides assistance and maintains cooperative relations with the community agencies and Head Start personnel
  2. Conduct interviews and assist families with developing needs and goal assessments
  3. Document and track follow up and referral
  4. Submit a monthly newsletter article and/or information as required to Family Service Specialist
  5. Submit weekly and monthly reports to the Family and Community Partnership Manager as directed by the Center Manager
  6. Maintain a parent resource center to provide families with information to address their needs and interests
  7. Collaborate with the Family Service Specialist to plan and conduct parent workshops relative to family needs and goal assessment
  8. Perform accurate data entry of family case management into ChildPlus Program including: health information, contacts, referrals and follow-up
  9. Maintain files in the areas of social services, health and nutrition services in accordance with agency directives
  10. Attend and plan in collaboration with the Center Manager, in planning parent meetings/trainings monthly as required by supervisor
  11. Prepare concise written documentation as required to performance duties.
  12. Conduct home visits and parent conferences in accordance with agency directives
  13. Demonstrate appropriate behavior, professionalism and positive interaction with families and the community
  14. Provide assistance to other departments as needed
  15. Collaborates with other programs operated by the agency to provide services for families
  16. Attend meetings and trainings as required
  17. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with agency policy
  18. Reports all needs related to service area delivery to the Center Manager
  19. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Associate degree in Human Services field or related field
  2. Basic knowledge of community and its resource
  3. Computer and office skills required
  4. Certificate level score on GA Work Ready “Work Keys” testing (silver certificate preferred)

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Individual with both oral and written English/Spanish bilingual skills.
