The overall
goal of the education component
is to foster learning experiences
that stimulate the intellectual, social
and emotional growth of each child.
Tallatoona CAP, Inc. Head Start has
chosen Creative Curriculum for use
in our classrooms. The Creative Curriculum
is a comprehensive, child-development-based
curriculum that allows teachers to
create an effective learning environment
for preschool children. The curriculum
framework allows teachers to be creative,
flexible and tailor teaching plans
according to each child’s interests
and strengths.
In addition to the Creative Curriculum
children receive instruction from
the following programs:
Daisy
All children participate in Daisy.
This program is in conjunction with
the National Girl Scout program. Through
planned activities children’s
social, health, environmental and
emotional skills development are addressed.
RIF
All centers participate in RIF. RIF
(Reading Is Fundamental) is a book
distribution program that allows children
to choose a book, without assistance
from an adult, to take home. Activities
that center on RIF are planned throughout
the week leading up to the distribution
date. RIF occurs three times per year.
Field Trips
Classes are encouraged to take field
trips, which allow for hands on learning
experiences.
Weekly Reader
Literacy effort to promote reading
with children and adults.
Chef Combo and Fantastic
Adventures
These are nutritious learning activities
that are taught twice per month in
the classroom and give children the
opportunity to experience food preparation
and nutrition first hand.
Transportation Safety
and playground Safety
These programs address the importance
of safety on the bus and playground.
