Position Title:  Head Start ECE Teacher

Salary Range: $21,497.00 – $28,662.00 Annually Depending on Credentials, Degree & Experience
This is a 10-month position, w/option to be paid on 12-month basis. Salary will be based on hours worked.

General Description of Position: Under the direct supervision of the Center Manager, the Teacher will be responsible for the planning and implementing developmentally appropriate classroom activities according to the requirements of the Head Start Performance Standards, Georgia Bright form the Start: Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL) Rules and Regulations and Tallatoona CAP, Inc. policies and procedures and develop a team approach to classroom teaching in collaboration with the Teachers Assistant.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education preferred or Bachelor’s/advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major (30 semester hours) relating to Early Childhood education, with experience teaching pre-school children
• Bachelor’s degree and has been admitted into the Teach for America program, passed an early childhood content exam, such as the Praxis II, and has participated in a Teach for America summer training institute that included teaching preschool children and is currently receiving ongoing professional development and support from Teach For America’s staff            
• Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Associates degree in a related field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education, with experience teaching pre-school age children

Requirements:

1. Must have passed the GA Work Ready “Work Keys” testing with a gold certificate level score preferred
2. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, a criminal background check and fingerprint background check (GBI and FBI)
   
3. Must have access to an automobile, a valid drivers’ license, maintain adequate liability insurance and be able to travel (home visits, trainings and meetings as required)
   
4. Must be able to lift 40 pounds
   
5. Must have the ability to work with individuals inclusive of all ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds
