Salary:                                                    $12.00-$16.00 /hr        

General Job Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Weatherization Technician Foreman, the Weatherization Technicians are responsible for performing weatherization services using “Whole House Weatherization” techniques and best practices as directed by GEFA. These services are provided to pre-approved low-income families to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

Job Duties :

Provide home improvement services for the proper installation of weatherization materials. This is to include but not be limited to the following:

  1. Repairing/removal/replacement of floors, windows and exterior doors as necessary
    • Installing window units and/or sashes
    • Replacing broken panes
    • Caulking and glazing
    • Installation of storm windows
    • Installation and painting exterior doors
  2. Caulking, sealing and insulating attics, walls and floors as necessary
    • Blowing insulation
    • Rolling insulation
    • Installation of attic
        
  3. Repairs to/refitting for furnaces and space heaters
  4. Responsible for company tools, equipment, materials and supplies
  5. Safeguard the property of our clients
  6. Pick up materials when necessary
  7. Submit reports as required
  8. Follow all safety regulations
  9. Responsible for proper cleanup of all work sites
  10. Perform other duties as required or directed
 

SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Be effective in both written and oral communication skills
  • Data entry computer skills
  • Ability and willingness to climb ladders and crawl under houses
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical labor
  • Be willing and able to travel and attend trainings as required
  • Ability to meet agency attendance policies
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and electronic fingerprint criminal background check

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a high school education (diploma or GED equivalency)
  • Knowledge in basic carpentry (background in residential construction preferred)
  • Valid drivers’ license, clean driving record (MVR), proof of adequate liability insurance
  • Must pass the “Georgia Work Ready” Work Keys Basic Skills test at the cert. level (silver certificate preferred)

All weatherization personnel will be required to:

  • Have a working knowledge of hand and power tools used in the trade and safety precautions
  • Enforce and abide by all OSHA rules and regulations
  • Enforce and abide by Lead Base Paint Safety practices
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations
  • Work in any outdoor or attic temperature for an extended amount of time.
  • Attend and complete mandatory training to enhance job skills as required and receive a minimum “satisfactory” grade in order to continue employment

This position requires that a yearly medical evaluation for the use of full face, half face and air supply respirators be mandatory. The results must be certified by an Occupational Health Provider as the employee being capable of wearing a respirator in order to continue employment.
